Speakin' Out News' Game of the Week:
Bob Jones 46 vs. Florence 22

Tre' Ragland scored three times, rushed for 99 yards and caught an 82-yard pass for a touchdown, as Bob Jones rolled past previously unbeaten and 6A seventh-ranked Florence 49-22 at Madison City Schools Stadium. Both teams now stand at 2-1 overall and in Region 8 play.

Florence got on the scoreboard immediately; connecting on an 80-yard strike from Bryce Curtis to Damien Simmons that put BJ on their heels early with a 7-0 deficit. The Patriots would respond quickly however.

On the ensuing BJ drive, Ragland plunged in from two-yards out to make it 7-6. The Pats missed the extra point. Not to be outdone, Falcons tailback Shawn Southward scampered 68 yards to the end zone. A two-point conversion by Jamarcus Jackson gave Florence a temporary advantage at 15-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Patriots responded swiftly with consecutive touchdowns thanks to Ragland and a fumble recovery and subsequent return for a score by Derek Birdsong. It was now 22-15 Bob Jones and a stunned Falcon squad didn't know what hit them.

Curtis found Simmons again in the end zone, this time from five yards out, but it would be the last time the Falcons would smell pay dirt on the evening.

Ragland's 82-yard catch and run and a 22-yard field goal enabled BJ to head into the locker up by ten, 32-22.
In the third quarter, Collins Moore and Aaron Sherrill punched the last two tickets for the Patriots courtesy of a 37-yard run (Moore) and a end zone fumble recovery by Sherrill.

After a shootout in the first half, Bob Jones put the clamps on the high-powered Falcons potent attack and smacked Florence in the mouth. They also sent a message to other Region 8 foes: The Patriots are a forced to reckoned with in 6A this year!
