Pastor Troy Garner, Fellowship of Faith Church

Huntsville, Alabama -Fellowship of Faith Church Pastor Troy Garner will hold a city wide rally on Wednesday June 18th. The guest speaker will be Civil Rights Pioneer and Community Activist Father George Clement from Chicago.

His fight against drugs won him acclaim in Washington, from President Bush. He and fellow South Side pastor Rev. Michael Pfleger led protest marches on drug paraphernalia shops on the South Side of Chicago and cleaned them up. His life was portrayed as a television movie by NBC and starred actors Lou Gossett, Jr., Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and Carroll O'Connor. Clements is the founder of the One Church-One Child, One Church-One Addict and One Church-One Inmate initiatives. During the Million Man March in 1995, Clements announced plans for the One Church-One Addict program, wherein communities would provide aftercare for individuals who have been incarcerated. More than 1,000 churches in thirty-five states now belong to the program.

In a press conference Monday, Pastor Garner called for a boycott on convenience stores that sell drug paraphernalia. Pastor Garner said, "I have received calls from pastors throughout the city, county and country supporting the boycott. To have Father George Clements, someone I studied in seminary, come speak to us is a blessing. He has fought the fight and won."

Other well-known speakers will also attend and their names will be released soon. "The Saving Our Community Rally "will be free to the public at the Fellowship of Faith church. Seating of 1250 will be limited.
The press is invited to attend.
